 The screen is TOO FRAGILE...Stay away from this phone March 5, 2010

This phone did not last 4 months. this phone is a faulty product and ATT is making a lot of money selling along with the insurance and deductible fee. When my screen cracked I contacted ATT and they were not able to help at all with the hardware, they referred me to LG manufacture. I contact them and they asked me to send them my phone. After one week they contacted me and asked me to pay $95.00 to replace the LCD screen. ATT and LG are the only one making BIG PROFITS selling this LG-Xenon GR500. STAY AWAY even if they give it to you for free.

I got this phone after suffering with a motorola missing a button for a year.
Here's my honest opinion:
After calibrating the touchscreen, it works fine. Yeah, sometimes I hit buttons I don't want but that is just a touchscreen flaw in general (happens on Iphones and my tablet laptop too).
I love the qwerty keyboard. It's great for rapid texting.
I agree with the other reviewers complaining about its fragility because I had an LG phone before that broke without any real stress on it. I just know that now I have to be careful.
However, as long as you're careful and don't expect this to be the end-all of phones you won't be disappointed.

Loving Living In Mexico (Manzanillo, Colima, Mexico (and TX sometimes))
I travel back and forth to Mexico constantly, in fact, I'm moving there this week. I had qualified for an upgraded phone and wanted one with a qwerty keyboard and touchscreen. Most are Smartphones. When roaming internationally, data downloads cost a FORTUNE, so I like the fact that I could call AT&T and block the internet while I was out of the country and the data service is only $15.00 a month.
This phone is NOT a smartphone and doesn't require the $30.00 per month internet charge (which cannot be suspended and doesn't cover me internationally), I wasn't about to pay $5.00 MB for accidentally hitting a browser key. I have a computer and a netbook, I didn't require a tiny, handheld computer that would jack up my cell charges to the roof. NOWHERE does it claim to be a smartphone and I've had excellent experience with mine so far. If I wanted a smartphone, I'd get an Iphone, but I don't. It's also nice that it only costs $20.00 to unlock it in Mexico (Telcel will actually tell you where the stores are that do that), so I can change my SIM card back and forth and use the Viva Mexico plan when calling the US and a Telcel Amigo plan when calling within Mexico. I haven't unlocked this phone yet, but have unlocked a couple of others. Was told that iphones and other smartphones are about $50.00 to unlock. Ick.
My experience with the phone so far, after a little over a week, has been great. It hasn't frozen up at all. My only negative with this phone is when searching contacts, I really need either pointy fingernails or a stylus because I sometimes miss. My eyesight isn't very good and the keys are easy to use compared to several other phones I tried. I don't miss keys very often (I tried the Motorola Karma and had to return it, I could barely type on it even with my glasses on, it was the WORST phone I've ever had) and the customizeable shortcut menu is very nice.
One other con I noticed is that the tasks menu doesn't have a reminder feature. I had a lot of Sony Ericsson phones prior to this one and their tasks and reminders features got me spoiled.
I haven't read the manual yet, so I'm not sure whether or not I can have different ringtones for each contact, I hope so, but it's not been obvious yet.
AT&T's site has been troublesome for ringtones, but they were down for 2 days completely (they even caused my bank to shut down since they use AT&T for communications), so that may have been the problem. What was so COOL is that AT&T CS actually told me where to go to get the free tones and they work well.
Haven't tried the camera, but I have a 5.0 megapixel camera, so I don't generally use my cell camera for much anyway.
Also, I LOVE the Talon Phone Shells that are made for it. Easily can change the color of the phone, as it completely hides the color.
Overall, I'm very pleased with the phone. LOVE the locking feature and I found a lot of free ringtones on myxter for it.
Got 6 screen protectors from Walmart for 5 dollars and the Talon case (you have to buy a belt clip separately, but had a bunch of those from other phones) fits beautifully and are literally works of art.
Overall, for the very low price, ease of use and availability of accessories, I've been quite pleased with this phone so far.

I narrowed my phone search down to the Xenon among a few other LG's and a Samsung. I ended up chosing this one because of the 4 star reviews on the AT&T site, the attractive design, the placement of the keyboard, and the large screen.
Let me first begin by saying this is my very first cellphone with a touch screen. I've very quickly learned that touch screens just aren't my thing. I'm a pretty petite female, very small hands. Still, when I go for the touch-screen buttons, I'm often hitting several links at once. I often have to touch down several times before anything happens, and usually the wrong thing happens. This means that most of games you can purchase are pretty much a waste, unless you like running out of time because the screen won't respond your touch command. Also, the screen gets filthy very easily because of the constant touching.
I do like the keyboard and how it slides open. It's very comfortable for texting.
No capability for Outlook. AT&T didn't advertise it as a SmartPhone, so I didn't necessarily EXPECT to have Outlook - but it would have made the phone worth the cost (which is comparable to SmartPhone prices).
The camera is just 2.0 megapixels. I knew that before purchasing it, but it is still a little disappointing to have such a cruddy picture on such a new and expensive phone. However, I didn't realize there is no zoom. I haven't owned a phone in the past five years that didn't have a zoom feature - even the Juke that I got for free was able to zoom.
*THERE IS NO HEADPHONE OUTLET* I mean.. really? Why advertise as an MP3 player if I have to go and purchase a special piece to listen to music?
AT&T's MEdia Mall is currently only set up to where only *certain* phones can preview ringtones - or else you have to log onto a separate computer, go to the MEdia Mall website, find the song, and preview it there first. To my disappointment, this is not one of the phones that allows you to preview ringtones. Also - MEdia Mall awkwardly requires you to first purchase a ringtone from one site, then go to a different site to actually download it onto your phone.
The phone is relatively heavy and seems pretty bulky - but I admit I'm used to a much smaller phone. It does seem pretty durable (so far). I have dropped it on a carpetted floor with no horrible aftermath.
The battery life is my biggest complaint. It lasts about half a day - or about a day if I keep from texting or using the internet.
I just have to add - I switched from Verizon to AT&T, and I'm incredibly disappointed with the overall service. I am constantly getting "Connection Failed" messages and the internet is always freezing up. The MEdia Mall options are much more limited than Verizon's media service. I've also been told that my voice is static-y during calls, although I'm not sure if that's due to AT&T service or this phone itself. Customer service hasn't exactly been incredibly helpful either.
Overall, the phone is just ok. It has many valuable functions (video recorder, voice command options, GPS capability), but I don't believe it's worth the current cost (I paid $150 with a 2 year contract). If you don't need Outlook for work, are used to touch screens, aren't interested in music/pictures/games, don't mind charging it at least once a day - then this phone will work for you. However, for my own needs - I wish I had done more research.

I have had this phone for almost a year. Like many people I originally had trouble with putting in my contacts (names and numbers weren't showing up correctly), but putting in the area code with each number and taking out the battery & putting it back in solved the problem within the first two hours & haven't had a problem since. I love the slide out, backlit keyboard, the ability to customize a shortcut menu, the number & variety of shortcut menus (love the menu at the top of the phone near the battery icon!), and the ability to do two things at once (begin a message or calendar entry while making phone calls). I have a cheap clear case on mine but the phone seems sturdy enough with no scratches a year later. You can adjust many things including brightness, level of feedback on touchscreen, and screenlock time under settings. You can also recalibrate the touchscreen (use a small, pointed object for better accuracy). I like that I can use my fingernails on the screen, as opposed to ones like the iphone screen which I always hit the wrong key on.
My number one complaint is that it doesn't sync with Outlook, but it turns out a lot of phones I'd expect to don't (Samsung impression) as well and I should have asked instead of assuming. #2 complaint: doesn't utilize memory card! You can't save texts,contacts, memos, tasks, or calender entries onto the memory card. You can save pictures and music though. They divide up the internal memory into 150 texts only (way too few for many people), 500 calender entries, 100 tasks, 30 memos, etc. It seems like you should be able to at least customize this if I can't save to the memory card (I don't use tasks, so I'd like to convert that to texts). Finally, it should have a headphone jack or provide a converter. My old sony w810 provided a great converter so I don't understand why this one doesn't. I used to always listen to music on my phone & have not bothered to in the last year. If LG fixed these three things, I would have given it 5 stars. With a little improvement, could be the perfect alternative to smartphones and their ridiculously priced monthly data packages!
